Life and background
Childhood and LSU
Matthew grew up in a supportive home as Hollywood Hall’s son and loved the football connection. At LSU he won the 2042 Heisman Trophy and was projected to be the first overall draft pick.
Injury and rebuilding his identity
During his final college season in 2043, Matthew tore his ACL, MCL, PCL and LCL. The injury ended his playing career before the NFL. He experienced depression and struggled to find an identity outside playing football, but gradually found fulfillment through work, personal interests and community involvement.
Coaching at LSU and USC
Matthew began coaching at LSU before moving to USC and becoming its head coach. A patient teacher focused on player development, he built a national championship program.
Marriage and fatherhood
Matthew married Alexis. Matthew Hall III was his only child.
Matthew openly expected his son to fulfill the family’s unfinished football dream. His son embraced those hopes, and Matthew was proud of his NFL career: reaching the league and becoming elite fulfilled the dream, even without a Super Bowl appearance.
Alexis
Alexis was quiet, thoughtful and observant. She and Matthew Jr. met through mutual friends. She enjoyed sports and fitness, and outdoor activities.
