Life and background
Childhood in Pasadena
Madison Brooks was born on October 25, 2087, and grew up in Pasadena, California. She was the only child of Grant and Valerie Brooks. Both parents worked in real estate: Grant was involved in investing and business, and Valerie also worked in the industry. Their success gave Madison a wealthy and financially secure upbringing.
She had a close, affectionate relationship with both parents. Their household was loving, and their support continued into her adult life. By 23, Madison was financially independent enough that she did not need to work or attend college. That security predated her relationship with Cameron Cole.
Grant and Valerie Brooks
Grant and Valerie did not try to control their adult daughter’s romantic life. When they learned about her relationships, including her interest in polyamory, their response was characteristically casual: “You’re a grown ass adult I don’t care who you date, one guy, one girl, two girls, I don’t care, if you like it we like it”.
Their acceptance extended to Natalie Foster. Madison was already dating Natalie when Natalie’s biological parents rejected her for being involved with a woman. After Natalie cut contact with them at 21, Grant and Valerie welcomed her into their home and treated her as part of the family. They became the parental figures Natalie had wanted throughout her childhood.
Natalie Foster
Madison and Natalie had been together for approximately six months when they met Cameron. Their affection, history and commitment to one another were already established. Madison was beside Natalie through the rejection by her biological parents and her move into the Brooks household.
Madison eventually acquired a house in Anaheim, where she and Natalie lived. The house later became the triad’s shared California home. In 2112, Natalie made one attempt to reconnect with her biological parents. They told her, “You’re dead to me.” Madison knew about the failed attempt; Natalie never reconciled with them.
Meeting Cameron and forming the triad
Around October 2110, Madison and Natalie approached Cameron Cole at a party. When he brought up his interest in polyamory, they told him they were interested in forming a triad in which all three partners were romantically involved with one another.
They spent approximately two months getting to know him, during which Cameron was essentially in a friends-with-benefits arrangement with both women. Natalie initiated the conversation about becoming an official relationship, and Madison and Cameron welcomed the idea. Their committed triad began in December 2110, after Natalie’s December 9 birthday. Cameron was 26, Madison 23 and Natalie 22.
Marriage in Anaheim
In December 2114, approximately four years after becoming a committed triad, the three legally married in Anaheim. Three-person marriages were legally recognized in the United States by then, and each became the spouse of the other two. Cameron was 30, Madison 27 and Natalie 26.
The ceremony was small and intimate. Grant and Valerie attended, along with Cameron’s father, Austin Cole, and his paternal grandparents, Patrick and Sadie Cole. Grant and Valerie walked Natalie down the aisle together. Natalie’s biological parents wanted nothing to do with her and did not attend.
All three chose not to have children. They agreed because none of them wanted to be a parent.
Homes, football and everyday life
During Cameron’s Broncos career, the triad maintained homes in Anaheim and Denver. They spent NFL offseasons at Madison’s California house. Madison and Natalie stayed with Cameron in Denver during the football season, and both attended every one of his NFL games, at home and away. Although outgoing in company, they were relatively quiet spectators in the stands.
Their home life included affection, teasing and arguments. Madison could lose her temper quickly, but she did not hold grudges. A minor disagreement could end in passionate kissing and mutual apologies; serious disagreements required conversation and resolution. Natalie sometimes mediated, without becoming permanently responsible for the other two.
Cameron’s football complaints were a familiar household routine. A frustrating loss could leave him angry for the week, and a subsequent victory might produce approximately five hours of explaining why the team should have played that way the previous week. Madison and Natalie had long since become accustomed to it. Both challenged his arguments, including his habit of saying “A win is a win” after playing poorly in victory and “I did my part” after playing well in defeat.
Madison and Natalie were Cameron’s spouses throughout Spy Gate 2.0, and the marriage remained intact through the scandal and his 2117 suspension. The relationship lasted for the rest of Cameron’s life. His death date has not been established.
02 / Personality
Personality and everyday life
Madison was extremely outgoing, confident and socially comfortable. She was expressive, affectionate, outspoken and passionate. She readily joined the teasing among the three partners, and Cameron was as likely to be the subject of a joke as either woman.
She was also short-tempered and quick to argue when upset. Once an argument ended, she was willing to move on. When she recognized that she had been wrong, she readily apologized. Her anger could be immediate without becoming a lasting grudge.
She shared Natalie’s confidence and warmth, but had considerably less patience during disagreements. The two could challenge one another directly while remaining affectionate and committed to their relationship.
