Life and background
Childhood and upbringing
Trever grew up in a stable, supportive household in Miami with his father Thomas and brother Mac. Comparisons with Mac became a source of pressure later; they did not define Trever’s childhood.
High school and Alabama
Trever was a national high-school star with major college offers. He chose Alabama because it offered the best football fit and development opportunity.
Cincinnati and Denver
Cincinnati drafted Trever in 2000, Round 1, Pick 16. He backed up Tyrese Holloway from 2000 through 2003 and became QB1 in 2004. Trever built his starting career in Cincinnati before moving to Denver in 2013. His departure from the Bengals was mutual: both he and the organization agreed it was time.
He won three championships across six Super Bowl appearances: one as Tyrese Holloway’s backup and two as a starter. His four starting appearances produced a 2–2 record. His Denver championship came in Super Bowl 50, a 24–10 victory over Carolina.
Marriage and fatherhood
Trever married Sarah Wall, and they stayed together. Their son Derek Walls is their only child.
Trever immediately supported Derek’s decision to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. Whatever hesitation existed elsewhere in the family, Trever did not ask his son to preserve the family’s quarterback tradition.

Sarah was confident, direct and independent, with an outgoing, playful and sarcastic side and a warm, patient, grounded manner. She and Trever met at college.
Making peace with Mac’s shadow
Trever once wanted to resent Mac’s success, but his brother’s genuine decency made that resentment difficult to sustain. Over time he accepted the comparison and came to call Mac the GOAT.
Acceptance did not mean dismissing his own career. Two championships as a starter in a demanding era were enough for Trever to feel satisfied. He and Mac became close, leaving career comparisons out of their time together and talking about life instead.
Retirement and ownership
Trever retired after his Denver years because he was satisfied with his career and ready to focus on family life. Retirement was a choice he felt comfortable making.
In 2033, he joined Mac and Jacob in the $767 million purchase of the NEFL’s Tampa Bay Top Guns. Mac headed the ownership group; Trever’s involvement kept a connection to football alongside his family life and golf with friends.
Later life and death
Trever Walls died from old age on October 26, 2067, at 90.

The player and the résumé
Trever played sixteen NFL seasons and never missed the playoffs. He spent 2000–2003 backing up Tyrese Holloway before starting every regular-season game from 2004 through 2015. His 192 starts produced a 136–56 record; his starting postseason record was 17–10.
His passing was distinguished by historically exceptional accuracy and ball placement across short, intermediate and deep throws. He completed 69.6% of his passes at 8.13 yards per attempt, combining strong downfield efficiency with modest passing volume and exceptional interception avoidance. His career ended with 39,360 passing yards, 268 touchdowns and 66 interceptions on 4,842 attempts.
Trever eventually accepted comparison with Mac rather than building his identity around resisting it. His two championships as a starting quarterback were part of a career he found satisfying without surpassing his brother.
03 / Personality
The person behind the record
Trever’s defining quality was the capacity to make peace with comparison. Resentment toward Mac gave way to satisfaction with his own achievements rather than a permanent campaign for recognition.
His support for Derek was immediate. He could value the family’s football history without insisting that his son play the same position.
He valued the life around football as well as the game itself: his marriage to Sarah, fatherhood, friendship and a retirement chosen on his own terms.
